Lala+Mo review
I recently received an order from Lala + Mo, and it honestly made my day.
This is not sponsored, and I am not affiliated with them in any way. I simply loved the products and wanted more families and educators to know about them.
As a Montessori educator, I notice the small details in children’s materials: the quality, the images, the language, and whether the design supports the child’s natural development. Lala + Mo clearly put care into each of these choices.
The shipping was fast, everything arrived beautifully packaged, and the products feel durable and thoughtfully made.
I especially appreciated the Arabic vocabulary books. They use clear, high-quality photographs rather than cartoon characters. In Montessori, we value realism during the early years because children are still building their understanding of the world. Real images help them connect new vocabulary to everyday life.
The Ilm Pen was another thoughtful detail. It includes an Arabic-only mode, an Arabic-and-English mode, and an English-only mode. The Arabic-only setting allows the child to listen and absorb the language without immediately relying on translation. The bilingual setting can then help them make connections between the two languages.
This reflects the Montessori principle of isolation of quality: introducing one element at a time so the child can focus without unnecessary distractions.
I also loved the Hajj Blocks Play Mat, which gives children a hands-on way to explore Hajj through building, storytelling, and imaginative play.
What touched me most were the gentle Islamic reminders woven throughout the materials: reminders of Allah’s blessings, opportunities to nurture gratitude, and even the duaa “Rabbi zidni ilma” on the back of the Ilm Pen: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.
In Montessori, we often speak about the absorbent mind. During the early years, children absorb not only language and information, but also the values and messages in their environment. When reminders of Allah, gratitude, and duaa are part of everyday learning and play, faith becomes part of what they absorb from the beginning and, inshaAllah, part of who they are.
As a mother, this makes me emotional and deeply grateful. I am thankful that my children can experience Islamic values in ways that are warm, joyful, and developmentally appropriate.
These are Montessori-inspired rather than traditional Montessori materials, but they align beautifully with many Montessori principles.
I highly recommend following Lala + Mo and exploring their shop. May Allah make their work a source of sadaqah jariyah and allow many children and families to benefit from it. 🌿✨
